Amanda and John live in DC and are getting married in Amanda’s home town–Napa! While they were recently in town for a friend’s wedding, we were able to meet and get to know each other a bit. This is the best reason to have an engagement session–I now know that Amanda has a sweet, spunky and competitive side, while John is gentle and kind and honest in all he does and says. I also know, now, that together they are comfortable and bright and sweet and loving. I can assure you that these traits will be evident in their wedding photos to come in September…

Lindsay and Jonathan are an absolutely adorable couple and I had been so looking forward to their shoot! They must have very good karma because on the day of the session we ended up with some very beautiful and very dramatic lighting–soft overcast skies, storm clouds looming, and then the sun breaking through just before sunset–sheer perfection!!! They are so comfortable together and we had a great time! Some of my favorites…

Lucy and Rick were so much fun to shoot–after talking to them I learned that Lucy loves all things romantic, whimsical and vintage. And I think the session is exactly that! It’s very “them”, as people say. This session was shot only 2 weeks before their beautiful Nestldown wedding so be on the lookout for more romantic photos of these two VERY soon!

reiko, chris and mochi – family portrait photography in los angeles

While we were in Southern California recently I met up with Reiko and Chris, whose gorgeous wedding I shot last summer, to take some photos with their current family–Reiko and Chris plus Mochi! I had a great time hanging out with them at their home and in their neighborhood. I really, really enjoy my clients and the relationships we build. I look forward to watching this family grow even bigger in years to come!!!

A cute little story…While we were shooting, Reiko sent my husband off with our kids and a big box of cupcakes to the park nearby. So today I had to smile when Jack walked into my office, saw the photos on my screen, and happily exclaimed, “Mommy–that girl gave me cupcakes and I ate them at the park!” Then he skipped out of the room. I guess Reiko and Chris made a lasting impression on him. LOL!

Thank you Reiko and Chris for welcoming me into your lives. And also for the cupcakes!

lindsey and beau – Napa Mustard Field Photos

Lindsey and Beau were only in town for a day and had tons of planning to get done. They almost didn’t do a shoot while they were here but I told the we could get great photos in less than 20 minutes. And we did!!! Just imagine what we can do on the wedding day!!!!! I am really looking forward to their wedding this summer at Auberge Du Soliel. Plus, they have been working with the wonderful Angela of Lulu Events! I can’t wait to see her work her magic!

julie and brent – Engagement Photography in San Francisco

I had a great session with Julie and Brent–they are 2 of the most relaxed and mellow people I have met! It only makes sense that they would be having a destination wedding in Maui next year! It will be so perfect for them and I cannot wait to be a part of it! They had such genuine personalities–the kind of people you meet and feel like you have been friends with for ages. I am looking forward to many more laughs together…

I really love the winter light in California. I’ve always loved it more than summer. So pretty…

alexis and james – napa engagement session

Alexis and James met me here in Napa and we set out looking for some great colors. I’d have to say we found plenty of color, and some excellent light for added bonus points! I heart shooting at the end of the day into the beautiful sunlight. I’m looking forward to their wedding in August because that, too, is going to be full of bright colors…the same colors I used for my own wedding, actually! Obviously we have a lot in common!

Plus, I LOVE red converse, which made this session even more fun!

denise and dan – san francisco engagement photos

Denise and Dan have a great sense of humor. I really enjoyed getting to know them during the engagement session and I am now convinced that I will be laughing with them a lot on the day of the wedding! I’m also excited because their wedding is going to be at a super beautiful location in SF! I’m already looking forward to July!!!
