This blog post is a lot overdue. These images are from a styled shoot I worked on with some other VERY talented wedding professionals. I never got a chance to post it after the shoot, but better late than never because these are total and complete eye candy. The Knot Ultimate Wedding Lookbook

It’s been a long time in the works, but the Knot just released it’s Ultimate Wedding Lookbook! It is seriously SO full of ideas and eye candy! I just love it!!!! It makes me want to get married all over again (to the same guy, of ocurse!!! LOL!) You must check it out.

A Thoughtful and Candid 2011 Post – Napa Photographer

Happy New Year!

With 2011 upon us I’ve been doing a lot of thinking–thinking about how to improve my life in little ways. I’m trying to streamline and remove clutter. And by clutter, in mean a lot of different things–I hope to go through old magazines, check off my work to-do list faster, cancel unused credit cards, and most importantly, remove some of the emotional/life clutter that builds up in people.

Last year I took on a lot of different projects–from photography related projects to volunteer projects. I have decided to eliminate some of them and practice saying “no”. By doing less, everyone will get more–my clients, my friends and my family. I am aiming to be a better photographer, mom and all-around person. There. I am accountable for it–I said it out loud. Wish me luck! LOL!

One of the items on my list that I absolutely cannot eliminate, however, is my involvement with Girls on the Run. This is an absolutely amazing organization that helps young girls develop the skills necessary to have self-respect, make good choices and be confident and comfortable with who they are–just the way they are. The girls go through 10 weeks of preparations and lessons and end the session by running a 5K. Last fall I was involved with such a special group of girls, grades 3-5, who touched my heart. They poured forth raw emotion and excitement and it melted my heart to watch them become more confident little ladies. In some ways my involvement felt selfish as I gained as much joy from the running sessions as the girls did! I am really looking forward to the spring training. Here is a collage of the girls:

It’s time! It’s time! (Actually…it’s been time for a while.) We are ready to take on an intern! Help me pass the word and find the perfect person to fill this position!

Jennifer Kloss Photography is looking for a photography OR graphic design intern to show off their talent. This is a flexible position–the only requirement is a willingness to take initiative! You will walk away with a complete understanding of what it takes to run a photography studio and maintain clients.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Photoshop, have great communication skills and be very attentive to details.

Duties may include: general office work, vendor communications, album layout, updating the blog, assisting at on-location shoots. Duties may be tailored to reflect your interests. This may be a paid internship, DOE.

helen turns one – napa family photography

We recently celebrated Helen’s first birthday. Whew–the first birthday is such a milestone for parents. It feels HUGE to have survived the sleepless nights, the teething, the etc. It just feels good. So I wanted to take a quick minute today to post a pic of Helen on her birthday, and a pic of her gorgeous cake made by the very talented Amber McKenney of Sweet on Cake.

And to my little girl, I know you can’t read this, but I want to say it to the world…You are truly a light. You have a brightness and a beauty and a fire inside of you that make me so excited to watch you grow. I already admire you and see so much in you that I wish I was. I cannot wait to watch and learn from your grace and excitement as you get older. You make me smile and you warm my heart. My favorite thing in the morning is to hold you tight and feel your warmth and love. Always hold tight that light and fire you have inside you very dear, little H. It will serve you well. Je t’aime.

easter eggs

Last fall I took Jack to the feed store downtown and let him pick out a couple baby chicks. I thought it would be a fun way for him to see where eggs come from and learn that we don’t just get food from the grocery store. I hope to instill in him a connectedness to the magical world around him. And so started the chicken project… They have an adorable little home in our backyard and have become more like pets, really. They’re fun to watch! The most exciting part happened this past week when 2 of the 3 started laying eggs! We officially have fresh easter eggs just in time for this weekend! A quick photo of the first egg, and Jack putting them in his basket!

wedding anniversary – A French Laundry Celebration

I’m a lucky girl. I have no idea, in fact, as to how I got so lucky. But I did. And not a day goes by that I don’t feel completely thankful! I truly have the most wonderful husband in the world. He is everything I’m not…and everything I AM, also. He’s perfect. He laughs both with me and at me (which is a wonderful thing!!!)! He supports me. He pushes me to move forward–to take risks. He adores me. And he loves me exactly as I am. He makes me a better person. I couldn’t have dreamed up someone more wonderful, more handsome, more funny, more adventurous or more loving. I plan to spend the rest of my life trying to be as much to him as he is to me. I love you, John. Happy 5th Anniversary, Love.

It was SUCH an amazing culinary experience! It was truly like nothing I have ever eaten before–the attention to detail was unbelievable. So much care went into preparing each bite. It was magical. There really aren’t words to adequately describe the wonderfulness! I relaxed and enjoyed the evening but did manage to snap a few photos:
